Dirty Little Rabbits: Des Moines' hottest band

14 of Iowa?s best bands will be downtown Friday for the Gross Domestic Product concert. Among them: Dirty Little Rabbits, an act poised for a breakout year in 2008. Learn a little bit about all of the bands.

On a cool March night, fans fill the Maintenance Shop, the small music club in the basement of Iowa State University?s Memorial Union. They?re packed in to see Dirty Little Rabbits, a local rock band whose roots lie in Slipknot (but who are making a name for themselves).

A diverse crowd: Metalheads in Sabbath and Slipknot shirts. Indie hipsters. Even a smattering of punks.

And front and center is Aya, a woman in her 20s from Tokyo who traveled more than 6,000 miles to be here, tonight, in Ames, to see Dirty Little Rabbits perform live. Aya sings along, and it?s possible song lyrics are the only English she knows. read more
