LIVE: Eels Present A Movie And A Concert In One Show
Chairs covered The Mod Club floor so people could settle in for the early evening show and watch the award-winning BBC documentary, Parallel Worlds, Parallel Lives. The film follows Eels main man Mark Oliver Everett's journey to learn and understand more about his late father, Hugh Everett III, a physicist whose work in quantum mechanics helped him come up with the groundbreaking and controversial theory of parallel universes in 1957. The elder Everett also helped persuade U.S. President Dwight Eisenhower to stop building larger atomic bombs, which made him a key player in avoiding a potential World War III. Father and son weren't close, so the younger Everett discovers things about his dad through meetings with old colleagues and younger acolytes and through reviewing archival research materials and tape recordings. read more
