Musical Ties
Chuck Shepherd started teaching him piano at age 7. "Both of them made me really interested in music when I really didn’t want to be."
Q: What were your dreams?
A: "Then to be a basketball player or the president. At least that’s what I told my neighbors. I also wanted to be a journalist pretty seriously."
Q: What is your goal now? Crawford now runs a studio, Arbor Ridge Studios, out of his house.
A: "I love making records for other people and writing songs for other people." He's also still part of Roman Candle, a band with a strong local following.
Q: Describe your music and your musical style.
A: "I would say it’s definitely influenced by 60s pop. I love the Beatles and the Beach Boys and Ricky Nelson and old country music as well. People say it's like rubber soul style, Beatles-ish."
Q: What is your life like as a musician?
A: "There are a bunch of different hats you have to wear." On tour, it’s typical to sit at a coffeeshop to write music and then go play a show. read more
