Pearl Jam’s Deluxe Edition Vinyl ‘Live On Ten Legs’ Now In Stores Commemorating Two Decades Of Rock
Assembling songs from their 2003-2010 world tours, Pearl Jam released their new album, ‘Live on Ten Legs’ back in January. Attainable on April 12th on commemorative vinyl records, re-releases of ‘Vs.’ and ‘Vitalogy’, the group’s second and third albums consecutively, followed by the release of ‘Live on Ten Legs’ signifying the twentieth anniversary of the group. This year will also see the release of Cameron Crowe’s documentary, ‘Pearl Jam Twenty’ accompanied by a 250 page book commemorating the ensamble’s past this fall. There is also a 20th anniversary weekend bash being organized for this summer, confirming that even after two decades, Pearl Jam continues going strong.
Pearl Jam, hailing from Seattle, Washington, released their premier record, ‘Ten’ back in 1991 and though they didn’t see impromptu success, the album reached number two on the Billboard 200 chart in 1992 with three hit singles in ‘Alive’, ‘Even Flow’, and ‘Jeremy’. According to Rolling Stone Magazine, the ensamble "spent much of the past decade deliberately tearing apart their own fame," assuming a leading place in the grunge movement of the early 1990s and was criticized for refusing to cooperate with industry standards. ‘Ten’ is still the ensamble’s most successful record, having sold almost ten million copies and was instrumental in generalizing alternative music.
Bluntly protesting former President George W. Bush, BP, and even Ticketmaster, Pearl Jam is not afraid of controversy, and frontman, Eddie Vedder has been known to be very candid. Regarding an array a number of causes Pearl Jam has also been active as well, including awareness of Crohn’s Disease (which Mike McCready, the band’s lead guitarist suffers from), the pro-choice movement, and implements a carbon neutral policy; a campaign to reduce carbon emissions into the atmosphere.
Brett Eliason, the group’s longtime engineer, has taken 18 tracks from their multiple world tours between 2003-2010 and remixed or remastered them for their twentieth anniversary the follow-up to their platinum 1998 live North American tour release, ‘Live on Two Legs’: ‘Live on Ten Legs’. Featuring later hits like ‘The Fixer’and classics like ‘Alive’ and ‘Yellow Ledbetter’ on the record. There is a CD, four mini-poster reprints from classic performances, five live photo prints and a tour laminate included on the deluxe double rock vinyl.
After twenty years, Pearl jam is still ‘Alive’ and well, returning to the studio this April to begin recording their next album. The band’s bassist, Jeff Ament, told Billboard, “We did a whole bunch of demos and everybody’s got a disc of 25 (tracks) right now. April will be the time where we get together and learn to play all these demos and figure out which 12-15 of them float to the top. Hopefully we can get something done this year. There’s been so much focus on the past that I think all of us are really excited to make a latest record and have something to look forward to because we’ve been digging in the boxes in our basement a lot the last year or so.”
